Local author Kathleen Kent will discuss her New York Times bestselling novel, The Heretic’s Daughter, which has been published in over a dozen countries and has received the 2008 David J. Langum award for American historical fiction. This book is based on the life of Martha Carrier, one of the first women to be hanged as a witch in Salem, MA. Martha was the author’s grandmother back nine generations, and this book, based in part on family stories passed down through the generations, is a tribute to her.
