Free notary services are available to all patrons. All notary requests must be made at least two days in advance using the schedule notary service form. Upon completion of the form, staff will review the request and contact the requestor.
Library staff cannot provide legal advice and select the document for you. Visit the Library beforehand for legal form resources.
Requirements
What you will need to bring to a notary appointment:
- Documents must be in English
- All pages of a document to notarize
- A notarial certificate for each document
- A valid, unexpired photo ID for each signer from the Acceptable ID list below
- Witnesses , if required (library staff or other library patrons cannot serve as witnesses)
- All those signing must be present

Restrictions
Carrollton Public Library notaries cannot notarize the following:
- Codicils (documents that amend wills)
- Depositions
- Estate settlement documents
- I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Forms
- Living Wills
- Public record documents or photocopies of documents (examples, but not limited to birth certificates, diplomas, house titles, marriage documents, passports, or visas)
- Transfer of title or deed (conveyance documents)
- Trusts
- Wills
