Taking place over a span of fifteen years, Mr. Church is the story of a talented and warm-hearted cook (the title character, played by Eddie Murphy) who enters the lives of a young girl and her terminally ill mother in 1960s-era Los Angeles. While the arrangement is initially intended to be a temporary one, with Mr. Church simply helping out in the kitchen for a few months, he comes to form a deep bond with both the mother and daughter that develops into a long-lasting and life-changing friendship.
