Here's how to get your Household Hazardous Waste
collected safely and successfully:

1. Set up a collection appointment.

There are two ways to schedule a collection:

  • Call 469-451-3713 (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. -5 p.m.)

  • Email completed form to CarrolltonHHW@republicservices.com

A Customer Service Representative will ask several questions, including your address and the type and amount of materials available for the pick up. You will be provided a convenient collection date and information about where to place the materials for collection.

Estimated Pickup Timeframe: Most collections are typically scheduled two to three weeks out, with most completed in approximately two weeks.

2. Your collection kit is sent

After an appointment has been scheduled, a complete collection kit will be mailed to your home.

This kit includes an instruction sheet, collection bag, and other items to help pack and secure your household-generated special materials.

3. Prepare for collection.

Once you have received the collection kit,  read the included instruction sheet, and then package your materials according to the directions.

Guidelines: Preparing Your Materials for Collection
  • Ensure all materials are in the original container or properly identified utilizing the labels provided in the kit.

  • Ensure all containers are sealed tight to prevent spills.

  • Place leaking containers in a plastic bag. Containers can be reinforced with duct tape. Leaking containers will not be accepted.

  • Containers must be at or less than 5 gallons; containers exceeding 5 gallons will not be accepted.

  • Unlabeled items will not be collected.

  • Place only like items in bags.
    • Do not mix cleaners with gasoline or paint with light bulbs, etc.
  • Request additional bags for additional types of household hazardous waste (HHW) needing disposal.

  • If your waste spills during the collection preparation process, remove it and place in a new container and close securely. Remove as much spillage from large plastic bag as possible. Call 469-451-3713 for additional bags and/or a new pickup schedule.

When new bags arrive, label what spilled in dirty bag and place dirty bag in a bag so it is contained. Place in new bag with completely sealed items.

  • Electronics items are not required to be placed into a plastic bag or container nor labeled.

4. Set out your materials on your specified collection date.

Republic Services will arrive on the scheduled collection day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to collect items.

The containment bag(s) and electronic waste items must be placed out for collection by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.

Unlabeled Household Hazardous Waste items will not be collected.

Need to reschedule or cancel? Call 469-451-3713.

Placement of Containment Bag and E-Waste Items
  • Place the items on your front porch visible from the street, not at the curb.

  • If the items will not be visible from the street, or if there is a gated entrance that has entry instructions, call 469-451-3713.

  • Take the empty bag to your front porch. Bring each item you want collected up to the bag and place inside. This avoids the bag being pulled, dragged or perforated. The bag must close completely.

  • Items can be placed in front of garage door as long as it's not located in the alley.
