Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)

  • Employee contributes 7% - City matches 2:1.

Deferred Compensation

  • The City offers a 457(b) plan which is administered by MissionSquare Retirement. If an employee contributes at least 4.65% of their wages per paycheck, the City will match with 2.35%. Vesting is immediate.

Roth IRA

The City offers an additional way to save for retirement through a Roth IRA. Contributions are made on an after-tax basis and can be payroll deducted.

Retirement Health Savings Account

Retirement Health Savings (RHS) account offered through MissionSquare Retirement for eligible employees.

Important: Social Security 

The City does not participate in Social Security. If you have specific questions regarding your social security benefits, visit http://www.ssa.gov/.

Medicare

The City contributes 1.45% to Medicare along with the employee contribution of 1.45%.

  • Request for duplicate W-2 Form (limited to last 7 years)
  • Request for duplicate 1095-C Form (limited to last 7 years)

REPORT THE DEATH OF A RETIREE OR FORMER EMPLOYEE

Benefits available to beneficiaries can go unclaimed if the City of Carrollton is unaware of a retiree’s passing. By contacting the City of Carrollton's Benefits team, they can research available beneficiary benefits and will respond within 24-48 business hours.

NOTE: The benefits team can only give limited information to beneficiaries that they have on record for the employee.

Who Do I Need to Contact Directly?

IMPORTANT: All entities will ask for identification information of the deceased individual which may include:

  • Date of Birth
  • Social Security Number
  • Member ID # (optional)
  • The Death Certificate is required before benefits can be processed.
