The City of Carrollton continues its inaugural photo contest competition for locals to showcase their favorite furry friends.

Carrollton animal owners are encouraged to submit photos of their pets for entry into a 2016 wall calendar, proceeds of which will benefit the Carrollton Animal Services and Adoption Center (2247 Sandy Lake Road).

There will be one Grand Prize winner whose pet will receive the coveted calendar cover along with other sponsorship goodies, and 12 winners whose pets will grace the pages of each month for a total of 13 winners. All winners will receive a free calendar at the conclusion of the contest.

“We’ve received a great response so far with photos; there are some really cute pets living in Carrollton,” said Kelli Lewis, Marketing Services Director. “We’d love to see even more shots of local animals—maybe some from out and about around the City in greenbelts, parks, or even Downtown. Carrollton residents are so creative, I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful calendar going into 2016.”

Participants can enter multiple photos of as many pets as they would like, but individual pets are only eligible to win one month. Each photo entry is $5 and all entries and payments must be received by 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1.

Photos should be in a high resolution digital format and sent to photos@cityofcarrollton.com or City Hall, c/o Marketing Services, 1945 E. Jackson Road, 75006 (mailed in or dropped off photos must be on a CD or a memory stick).
Include with photo submission: animal’s name, optional photo caption, owner’s name, phone number, and email address.

Cash or check payments can be made in person or mailed in to City Hall, Marketing Services. Electronic payments can be made online through Carrollton’s WebTrac registration system at cityofcarrollton.com/signupnow. Just find the Photo Contest button and fill out the form. A RecTrac account is required.

The contest is open to everyone. Photo submissions will be judged on composition, creativity, and cuteness! Furry friends only, no humans please. Winners will be announced in mid to late August.

“We’re hoping for some themed photos, maybe a few seasonal shots, or holiday-inspired pictures; we just want good pet photos,” Carl Shooter, Animal Services Manager said.

The City will launch the sale of the calendars at the Saturday, September 12 Pooch Pool Party at Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex (1334 Rosemeade Parkway).

Calendar sponsors to date include Toothacres Pet Care Center, Dogs Rule Resort, and AlphaGraphics printing.
