Unless specifically noted, most violations are not eligible for dismissal by the court. By Law, those that are eligible can only be dismissed if the defendant takes very specific corrective action within a specified time, and if the judge approves the dismissal. 

Below is general information concerning the requirements for a dismissal on some types of violations. There may be others that are not listed. For questions, contact Carrollton Municipal Court.

What to Bring to Court: 

If you believe you qualify for a dismissal you must bring the following with you to Carrollton Municipal Court:

  • The vehicle you were driving when you received the citation

  • Any receipts for repairs or renewals concerning when and how you corrected the defect 

A Marshal will examine the vehicle and your documentation to determine if you are in fact eligible to have the citation dismissed.

Keep In Mind:

  • Most dismissals require that you pay a small fee at the time you appear at the court. 
     
    • NOTE: A 2% service fee is added to credit/debit card payments.

  • If you are granted deferred disposition in court for an insurance violation, you must provide proof of insurance coverage at the end of your deferral period.

Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility (No Insurance)
Expired Drivers License
Failure to Display Drivers License
Failure to Report Address or Name Change on Drivers License
Violation of Drivers License Restrictions
Expired License Plate
Operating a Vehicle without Both License Plates
Equipment Violations (Lights, horns, mirrors, etc.)
