Stormwater protection and maintenance is critical a critical component of construction practices, making sure that our environment stays clean and healthy. Issues like siltation, and the buildup of sediments on the bottom of waterways can result from poor construction practices. Regulations were created for construction sites in order to prevent pollution on our waterways. The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality regulates the Construction General Permit. This permit requires any construction site between 1 - 5 acres to be regulated, and construction sites over 5 acres to obtain a Notice of Intent (NOI), and create Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). These permits as well as our city ordinance work together to remove pollutants to the maximum extent practical. Protecting our waterways, drinking sources, and wildlife!
