Carrollton City Attorney
The City of Carrollton would like to introduce and welcome Meredith A. Ladd to the Office of City Attorney. Ladd joins Carrollton’s legal team from the City of Dallas General Counsel Division with specialties in federal and state regulatory compliance, program development contracts, litigation, and negotiations.
Ladd earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law—now the Texas A&M University School of Law.
Ladd replaces longtime City Attorney R. Clayton Hutchins, who served as the City Attorney for eighteen years and retired from the City effective April 30, 2014.
Ladd brings with her advisory and counsel experience at all levels of municipal management regarding administrative, operational, and procurement issues. She has worked for public and private clients, both in-house and via a private firm for more than fifteen years, and has represented a number of Texas municipalities as an Assistant City Attorney including Arlington, College Station, Forney, Flower Mound, McKinney, and Little Elm.
Ladd holds professional memberships to the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, the America Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association, for which she served as Chair of State and Local Government Relations Section from 2011-2012.Ladd earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law—now the Texas A&M University School of Law.
