Turn the page to a tale of fantasy and fun at Carrollton’s Enchanted Library on Friday, November 22 from 5-8 p.m. at Josey Ranch Lake Library (1700 Keller Springs Road).
Enchanted Library will offer a night of imagination and whimsy for all ages with shows, games, crafts, and more. Attendees can craft a unique dragon egg, light up a fairy luminary jar, or prove themselves a fantasy wizard in trivia.
Does your family have what it takes to escape the dragon’s lair? Delve into a fantasy-inspired escape room to solve puzzles as you race against the clock. From 5-6 p.m., Fairy Laurel will fly in with her puppet friends to visit. Kids can then enjoy a special fairytale story time from 7-7:30 p.m. that will transport them to a faraway land of imagination. Teens can socialize and craft from 5-7 p.m. with Carrollton Public Library’s Teen Advisory Council.
From 6:30-7:30 p.m., attendees ages 18 and older can join the Alternative Comedy Theater for a night of fantasy-themed improv. In this interactive performance, audience members will take part in a live action role-playing game of Dungeons & Dragons and roll a giant 20-sided die to help decide the fate of the onstage adventurers.
Fantasy and fairytale attire at the event is highly encouraged-all knights, princesses, witches, wizards, and everything in between are welcome.
“Enchanted Library is a celebration of everything that is magical and fantastical for all ages,” Melissa Neybert, Youth Services Librarian said. “This will be the second year of a new signature fall event for the Carrollton Public Library, and we invite everyone to bring the whole family to unlock the magic at Enchanted Library.”
Snacks and craft materials will be provided for activities while supplies last. Enchanted Library will also be a sensory friendly event, with coloring, sensory toys, and noise-cancelling headphones available for children and adults to take a break if needed.
The Dragon’s Lair Escape Room will require registration, starting day of on November 22 at 10 a.m. Attendees can register in-person, on the website, or over the phone by calling 972-466-4800.
In addition to enjoying the event’s activities, patrons can also stop by free photography exhibit A Colorful Dream, which will be available during Enchanted Library. This family-friendly, interactive exhibition will be on display at Josey Ranch Lake Library from Sunday, November 10 to Tuesday, January 7. Featuring the work of contemporary fine art photographer Adrien Broom, A Colorful Dream tells a simple coming-of-age story through a suite of 40 vivid photographs, some even large in scale. The exhibit is organized by ExhibitsUSA, a program of Mid-America Arts Alliance and The National Endowment for the Arts.
Enchanted Library and A Colorful Dream are both made possible thanks to the support of the Friends of the Carrollton Public Library. For more information and to view the full schedule of activities, find Enchanted Library at cityofcarrollton.com/library.
