City of Carrollton Earns a Crowning Achievement

Post Date:01/08/2015 5:00 PM
American City & County Magazine recently honored the City of Carrollton with a Crown Community Award in the Overall Overhaul category.

Carrollton was designated as a Crown Community for its dynamic efforts to develop the city as a model community for Suburban Dallas.

The award comes on the heels of the many capital improvements the City has made to area thoroughfares, neighborhoods, and retail spaces. Specifically, Carrollton has focused on five primary areas such as corridor beautification, Project Raiford, railroad crossing quiet zones, the Retail Rehabilitation Program, and Downtown Carrollton.

Seven Crown Community Awards were given in 2014 based on project uniqueness, short- and long-term value to the community, and effective or innovative financing. Other recognized communities include Atlanta, Ga. in the Parks category, Riverside, Calif. for Environmental Impact, and Allentown, Pa. for Revitalization & Finance.

“Redevelopment in Carrollton is always in progress and we are excited about all of the positive changes that have taken place recently,” Mayor Matthew Marchant said. “Carrollton is a competitive and successful area, and our surroundings should reflect that.”

AC&C Magazine has been the voice of state and local government since 1909 and serves an audience of city, county, and state officials. To view the City of Carrollton’s report and the entire list of Crown Communities, visit americancityandcounty.com.
