Managing Wildlife in an Urban Setting Workshop

EgretPrevention of Migratory Birds and Associated Challenges in Residential Neighborhoods

Concentrated nesting of migratory birds has raised a number of issues for our community. The City of Carrollton, in partnership with the Neighborhood Advisory Commission and Texas Parks and Wildlife, will present a free workshop to address this active concern and prevention techniques. Success depends upon community action and involvement. This workshop will answer questions such as:

  • What are migratory birds and how can we prevent them from establishing rookeries in residential neighborhoods?
  • What does “Protected Status” mean?
  • What can be done lawfully and at what times?

Who Should Attend: Everyone is welcome. If you have seen egrets or herons in your neighborhood, this workshop is especially for you.

Speakers:

  • Brett Johnson, Urban Wildlife Biologist, Texas Parks & Wildlife
  • Scott Hudson, Environmental Services Director, City of Carrollton
