There is more than one way to experience fireworks this July 4th weekend. One way is to feel the explosion of satisfaction inside that comes from giving blood for someone you may not even know.
Join Carter BloodCare’s Addison Donor Center staff at their annual ‘12HOURGIVE’. The ‘GIVE’ is a celebratory event during extended hours at the center to encourage blood donation during holidays, when the blood needs at hospitals often increase. During the ‘12HOURGIVE,’ all potential blood donors are treated to food from Jason’s Deli, a goody bag, and all donors are entered into prize drawings. Organizers are encouraging donors with blood types O negative and B negative to strongly consider making an appointment to give.
Potential blood donors can be 16 years old with a parent’s consent; 17-year-olds may donate independently. There is no upper age limit for donating blood. All donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health and present a photo ID. Ideally, a donor should also eat a good meal and drink plenty of fluids before giving blood. PLEASE SIGN UP AHEAD OF TIME. For more information about donor eligibility, call Carter BloodCare at 1-800-DONATE-4 or visit carterbloodcare.org. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter!
