The City of Carrollton will be phasing in new credit card processing procedures, beginning August 2 with Municipal Court payments. As of August 2, credit card payments made electronically, taken in person at Municipal Court or taken over the Resolution Center phone lines for Municipal Court costs, fees or fines, will include a convenience fee equal to 3% of the transaction’s total value. In addition, VISA will no longer be accepted. Payments can still be made with MasterCard, or the newly added American Express or Discover Card.
Because the City uses different third party vendors for various payment systems, these changes are only taking effect for Municipal Court payments at this time (August 2). VISA will still be accepted for Parks and Recreation fees, utility payments, building inspections, animal services and library fines. Implementation of a 3% convenience fee is also planned for Utility Customer Service, Building Inspections and Parks and Recreation as part of a phased approach over the next several months. Customers will receive ample notice of the transition for each City business unit.
