“Is it a Behavioral Problem, or is it Stress?”

Guest Speaker: Deborah Chelette-Wilson, MHR, LPC

The Stressed families produce stressed kids, and when both parents and their children are all stressed-out, bad things can happen. This is the first quarterly workshop sponsored by Carrollton Police Department for families with kids and teens. In these meetings, we will have speakers who can offer information about different issues that parents face.

“The Teen Brain is a work in progress, “ says Ms. Chelette-Wilson. “If we can’t handle our emotions and stress, then regulating behavior becomes difficult.” Ms. Chelette-Wilson will discuss how stress can quickly bloom into a behavioral issue and even violence.

This session addresses how experience shapes both parents and their kids. Ms. Chelette-Wilson will talk about the power of relationships, how stress influences communication between parents and their children. Because of the sensitivity of the subject, we ask that you do not bring your children and teens to this meeting. The subject matter is for parents.

We will have a Spanish translator available for non-English speaking attendees.

Registration is limited to the first 100 persons who register. Please email Pamela.Dickinson-Noris@cityofcarrollton.com for registration. We ask that parents attend without their children and teens. The subject matter is for parents only.

These programs are offered as information and referral. Carrollton Police Department is not recommending any one practitioner or agency nor are we making any comment or representation about the effectiveness of programs . The important thing is to seek help and information.
