Be a part of history on Saturday, May 1 at the dedication of a City historical marker recognizing the site of the former Union Baptist Church. The Church was also the recipient of the first State historic marker in Carrollton, which has its own story. In November, 1979, fire destroyed the Highland Baptist Church building. It was rebuilt and regular services began in September, 1980. The State historic marker was not reinstalled, and thought to be lost. In October, 2000 the congregation moved to 4651 N. Josey Lane, and changed its name to Castle Hills Baptist Church. The congregation disbanded in March, 2007 and the original State historic marker was discovered while cleaning that building. The State marker was moved to its current site in 2008, where the original church foundation stones had been discovered June, 2000.
