Post Date:09/19/2016 10:42 AM

dog parkCarrollton’s second dog park location is ready to entertain your four-legged friends! The City will hold a grand opening ribbon-cutting event on Saturday, October 8 at 11:30 a.m. at McInnish Dog Park (2241 Sandy Lake Road).

Mayor Matthew Marchant and other City officials will greet the crowd and say a few words before the ribbon cutting. Attendees are invited to stick around to enjoy some leash-free park playtime as well as a hot dog lunch on us!

The new space features four acres of grassy areas divided into three sections; drinking fountains, picnic tables, shaded areas, waste bag dispensers and trash receptacles, and wash stations. Don’t fret, the park includes separate large dog and small dog areas. Additionally, park goers can enjoy a scenic pond onsite as their dogs get some much needed exercise in a safe, updated space. There will be a small splash pad for the dogs to enjoy near the pond as well.

Carrollton Animal Services will be on hand with an informational booth and some fun giveaways for the pups. Interested in registering your pet or getting a rabies vaccination? Stop in to the Animal Services & Adoption Center just up the street from the park at 2247 Sandy Lake Road.

The park at McInnish was developed a little over a year after Carrollton’s first dog park was built in the area adjacent to Rosemeade Recreation Center (1330 E. Rosemeade Parkway). Plans were approved for this project in May and work began in June to bring Carrollton residents another amenity to enjoy within their community.

The 2017 Carrollton pet photo calendars will be available for purchase at the opening ($10 cash or check only).
