The Producers is a musical about a musical, a show within a show...except the musical being produced is written by a Nazi about his hero, Hitler...and, the objective of the production is failure. Producer Max Bialystock, whose specialty is seducing rich little old ladies, takes on a repressed, yearning-to-break-free accountant, Leo Bloom, as apprentice producer in the quest to fund and mount the show, “Springtime for Hitler.” The music is great, the jokes are as fresh as they are old (you can’t believe you’re still laughing at them), most of the chorus girls are beautiful, and the material, which respects no taboos, is pure Mel Brooks at his finest. Resident registration begins July 1 and non-resident registration begins July 8.
