As Germany was collapsing at the end of World War II, a group of German rocket scientists were sheltered at a laboratory located in a remote area of the country. Among them was the young Werner von Braun. The Russian army was approaching from one side and the Americans from the other side. The scientists had to make a choice, and when Von Braun testified before congress he was quoted as saying the reason they surrendered to the Americans was because they felt that space exploration would be best used by “a country with moral values, a country which believed in the Bible.” Woven into this history is the fictional Maria, a violinist of tremendous talent who had hoped to perform with the great symphonies of Europe. She is torn between two dynamic men, a handsome German scientist and a rogue American test pilot.
