This event has been postponed due to inclement weather; rescheduled for 3pm on Saturday, December 14
In honor of Carrollton's Centennial, community leaders would like to have a Centennial Time Capsule to be done and completed in 2013. Carrollton Volunteers has agreed to accept this project since it has already done a time capsule project and it is a private organization with the support of the City of Carrollton. The cost of the project will be raised from donations from the community with no City funds. Therefore, we may request a small donation from persons who want to put an entry into the time capsule.
Carrollton Volunteers, Inc.
Checklist for Entries:
Please keep in mind the Time Capsule will be buried for 25 years behind the Carrollton Senior Center. This means that we have to be very selective as to what is contained in the envelopes so that the contents of the entire capsule are not contaminated or compromised. Please do not include anything in the envelope that is flammable or easily destroyed. Photographs should be of the highest quality and laminated. No liquids will be included. We cannot guarantee the ultimate condition of the documents when they are retrieved 25 years from now, but we aim for best possible preservation so we must ask everyone to observe the following checklist.
Labeling:
The sender should include the name, street address, and phone number for both themselves and the person to whom the document will be returned. Any other information may be added to the envelope so that a friend or family member can be located 25 years from now. It is our intent to deliver any letters that arc not claimed 25 years from now when the capsule is opened to either the Carrollton Library or the Perry Museum for their use as part of a Carrollton History exhibit or kept until claimed by a descendent. Please let the addressee or appropriate person know what you have left them and to pick up the artifact in 25 years at the opening of the Centennial Time Capsule.
Costs for Sizes (Donations):
1. Checks only and they should be made out to Carrollton Volunteers, Inc.
2. $5.00 per classroom entry for a 9x12 envelope containing a letter with a picture.
3. $15.00 for each regular number 10 envelope containing a letter.
