Congrats to Our 2019 Contest Winners!

Pet Photo Calendar cover 2019The City of Carrollton thanks all animal lovers who submitted photos of their pets for entry into the 2019 wall calendar. The contest is now closed, but proceeds of both the contest and the printed calendar will benefit animals at the Carrollton Animal Services & Adoption Center.

Calendars can be purchased for $10 (including tax) at City facilities including both Libraries, both Recreation Centers, the Senior Center, and the Adoption Center. Cash or check only at City Hall, Marketing Services.

The contest raised $1,305 this year and as always, all proceeds go directly to the Carrollton Animal Services & Adoption Center for resources such as food, medicine, cleaning supplies, and treatment of sick or injured animals.

“This contest has become one of the most important things we work on; special services and surgeries are paid for in part by the funding raised during this event,” Animal Services Manager Carl Shooter said. “I want to thank our community for their participation as this support goes a long way in helping the animals in our care.”

The contest ran from April to August and saw 150 photo submissions from local pet lovers. Jamie Selah and her smiley-faced beagle puppy Zelda won the Grand Prize calendar cover.

“We are so excited, it was wonderful news,” Saleh said after accepting the contest prize pack at this year’s Pooch Pool Party. “We took this photo on the very first day we met Zelda; she was two months old. She is five months now and still so sweet.”

The City launched the sale of the calendars at the Pooch Pool Party on Saturday, September 8 at Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex that, despite the rain, saw 122 dogs come out for an afternoon of splashy, soggy fun. Sixty-seven animals were registered with the City and the Carrollton West Pet Hospital administered several rabies vaccinations at the event.

Carrollton Animal Services reminds residents of responsible pet ownership and, as always, remember to pick up after your pets!

Thanks to Camp Bow Wow, the Jeff VanMatre Insurance Agency, Penny Whistle Photography, and Hebron Parkway Veterinary Hospital for sponsoring the 2019 Carrollton Pet Photo Calendar.
