Our benefits are designed to reflect these values, providing comprehensive coverage that protects your health, family and way of life. Annual benefits plans become effective on January 1.

Health Coverage

The City of Carrollton offers a medical plan through Cigna that provides comprehensive medical and prescription drug coverage.

Cigna has two network options: Base Plan Local Plus or Buy-Up Open Access. Free in-network generic prescriptions available through Cigna's pharmacy program.

Verify if your physician or facility is affiliated with either the Local Plus or Open Access Network to determine the best health care option for you. You can access a list of providers at Cigna

Dental Coverage

The City offers a dental plan through Cigna. Coverage is available for preventive, basic, major and orthodontia services.

You can see any provider you want but will maximize your benefits and lower your out-of-pocket costs if you see a Cigna provider.

Vision Coverage

The City offers a vision plan with Superior Vision Services with coverage available for eye exams, lenses, frames and contacts.

To access the provider directory, visit Superior Vision and click on "Eyecare Providers."

Employee Health & Wellness Center

Receive FREE on-site primary care, over-the counter medicine, and behavioral health services while enrolled in the City's medical plan.

Employees have confidential access to a Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that provides 24/7 assistance for a variety of work-life issues at no cost to you through Aetna Resources for Living.

FINANCIAL BENEFITS

Get the most out of your money.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Lets you set aside pre-tax dollars (up to the annual IRS limits) to pay for qualified health care and/or dependent care expenses.

Life Insurance

City-paid basic life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance and employee-paid supplemental life coverage options are available for eligible employees, helping you maintain financial security.

If eligible, both policies are paid at two-times the annual salary.

Supplemental employee & dependent life insurance can also be purchased.

Disability Coverage

City-paid short-and long-term disability coverage that pays you a percentage of your income should you need to take time off due to a serious illness or non-work-related injury.

Retirement Benefits

  • The Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with mandatory employee contributions and matching city contributions.

  • An optional 457(b) Deferred Compensation plan with matching city contribution.

  • An optional after-tax Roth IRA plan option without a company match is also available.
  • A Retirement Health Savings Program (RHS) - eligible employees are given annual contributions from the city to use for eligible medical expenses/premiums in retirement.

New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, 9/11 Remembrance Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day

Non Civil-Service

New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and an additional holiday in December to be determined by the Executive Team.
