The Carrollton Public Library will implement a $40 annual library card fee for patrons who reside outside of Carrollton, Farmers Branch, or Denton County beginning Friday, January 1, 2021.

Purchasing a card allows non-residents access to the same services such as checking out books, borrowing eBooks and audio books, using the Book-A-Librarian service, reserving study rooms, accessing databases remotely, and more. This decision was reviewed and enacted by City Council, based on research from staff and feedback from the Library Board.

Carrollton residents will still enjoy the full range of programs and services the Library has to offer, including the ability to check out hot spots, reserve a meeting room, and use the inter-library loan system.  

The Library has followed proper health and safety guidelines throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, including requiring masks and recommending gloves be worn while inside the Library. Additionally, returned items are cleaned and quarantined to ensure the safety of all visitors and staff. 

In addition to practicing safety protocols, the Library also altered its hours during the pandemic. Current hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at both the Josey Ranch Lake and Hebron & Josey locations. Curbside and window services have helped minimize the indoor capacity at both libraries, and these services will continue into the new year.
