The Carrollton Industry Committee was established in 1997 to support the pretreatment efforts of regulated industries in the Carrollton. The Committee's membership includes representatives from regulated industries, non-regulated industries and Environmental Services staff.
Activities have not been limited to pretreatment issues, but have included seminars on other environmental regulations as well. Meetings have varied from half-day pretreatment updates to full day seminars held free of charge. Seminars for the Committee and other interested parties have featured experts from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to discuss topics such as:
These meetings enable industries to voice their concerns, difficulties and questions about issues at hand and to get immediate responses from the proper agencies or persons. Meetings also facilitate shared learning among industry associates from their environmental experiences.
The Industrial Pretreatment Program publishes a quarterly newsletter "Industry Committee Highlights" between Industry Committee meetings. This newsletter reports on recent meetings of the Committee, provides updates on current regulatory and enforcement issues, and gives reminders on required reporting deadlines of various environmental agencies.
