The following are the top ten most common problems encountered during inspections:

1. Fire extinguishers out of service or missing
2. Exit lights not working
3. Extension cords used as permanent wiring
4. Storage too close to sprinkler heads or ceiling
5. Combustible materials too close to hot water heater or heating unit
6. Loose electrical wiring and gaps where breakers are missing in the breaker box
7. Untested sprinklers, alarm, and hood systems
8. Locked or blocked exits
9. Address missing
10. Fire lanes need to be restriped

Commercial / Business Inspections:

Commercial / Business inspections include plan reviews for new construction to ensure compliance with the latest versions of the Uniform Fire Code, and continuing fire safety inspections throughout the life of the buildings.

 Will CFD inspect a building on request?   

     Yes, we respond to requests for “walk-throughs” at businesses and requests for Home Safety Inspections. We also respond to complaints at locations with known or suspected fire hazards.

The Carrollton Fire Department also utilizes KNOX-BOX rapid entry systems to help reduce property loss.  Please click on the link above to learn more about the KNOX-BOX systems or to purchase a KNOX-BOX online.  We accept any style of the 3200 series and 3500 series for Key Switches for Gates.  After receiving your KNOX-BOX you can contact our office (972-466-3210) to schedule someone to come out and meet you to put the keys in the box.
