How many items can I check out?
How long can I keep an item checked out?
How many times can I renew?

New cards have a check out limit of 5 items for the first 6 months. At the end of 6 months if fines are under $10 and there are no problems with the account, then the card is changed to have the limits below.

The Check Out, Renewal, and Request Rules Table below gives check out periods, check out limits, renewal limits and lists if an item can be requested by placing a hold.

¹The limit on the total number of items checked out on a card is 40.

²Renewal adds either 3 weeks or 1 week to the date you renewed NOT the original due date.

How do I renew items?

• Renew online:
1. Click on library account, found either on the vertical navigation menu on the left side of the screen or at the top of the catalog.
2. Enter your library card number OR user name and PIN/Password.
3. Either click "renew all" or check the items you want to renew and click "renew marked."
4. Check to make sure the item(s) renewed. Successfully renewed items have a message reading "RENEWED Now Due..." with the new due date. If you see TOO MANY RENEWALS or ON HOLD FOR ANOTHER CUSTOMER the item was not renewed and must be returned by the due date to avoid fees.
• Renew eligible items on a checkout station even if the items are not at the library.
• Ask staff a service desk for help renewing.
• Call 972-466-4800 during library hours to speak to someone in person about renewing items. Have your library card handy.
