Between 1991 and 2002, more than 75 miles of sidewalks were replaced at a cost of over $8 million.
Beginning in Fiscal Year 2003, the City of Carrollton implemented changes to the sidewalk rehabilitation program of past years. The annual program of replacing sidewalk segments throughout the City has been revamped into the N.O.T.I.C.E. Program. Under the program, rehabilitation of water and sewer mains, streets, curbs, sidewalks and alleys will be performed on a neighborhood-wide basis. Under the Sidewalk Repair Policy, the city of Carrollton Public Works repairs those sections of sidewalks where city staff is notified of a potentially unsafe condition and determines that a trip hazard exists. A trip hazard is generally defined as:
Depending on the extent of the damage, repairs may be by grinding the concrete at breaks or by installation of an asphalt ramp. Damages to sidewalks which are the result of vehicular traffic, including driveway approaches, are the responsibility of the adjacent property owner.
To report an unsafe sidewalk, please call the Resolution Center at 972-466-3425.
90/10 Grant Sidewalk Replacement Program
