Don’t Get Fined – Be Aware of Mandatory Stage 2 Water Restrictions Now in Effect
Even in normal rain conditions, the D-FW region does not have enough water supply to support the projected growth over the next 50 years. Water is essential to life, thus it is essential to sustainability of a region.
Despite recent rains, North Texas is still undergoing drought conditions with low lake levels. Reservoir levels statewide are only 65% full. The City of Carrollton has entered Stage 2 Water Conservation, with mandatory water-use restrictions. Usage of water for outdoor purposes, such as lawns, gardens, and car washing, is restricted. Watering is prohibited between the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily, as well as which days you may water. Watering days are specified by address. If the last digit of your address* is an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9), you may water Saturdays and Wednesdays only. If the last digit of your address is an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, 8), you may water Sundays and Thursdays only. No watering is allowed on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Fridays. *Apartments, warehouses, and other complexes with multiple addresses are identified by the lowest address number.
Washing motor vehicles is only allowed on a customer’s designated watering day, and filling/refilling of private pools is prohibited during the hours of 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily. Washing of sidewalks, driveways, and other hard surfaces is prohibited.
Customers are encouraged to limit nonessential water use to prevent further restrictions and to help conserve our precious water resources. For updates on water-use restrictions or for water saving tips, visit cityofcarrollton.com/water or call 972-466-3120.
