In addition to the free rides and games offered at Carrollton’s 5th Annual Festival at the Switchyard, the little ones also can expect to have a great time inside the Plaza Theater watching magicians, comedians, circus acts, and more. 2014 festival poster

A full children’s entertainment lineup will kick off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1 with a high-energy interactive and educational performance from children’s entertainer David Chicken followed by Story Time, led by the Carrollton Public Library, that includes songs, finger plays, action rhymes, and puppetry to help develop a love of language and reading.

At 1 p.m., Guinness World Record breaking juggler David Slick takes the stage to wow the audience with magic tricks, juggling, clowning, and much more. By 3 p.m., magician James Munton will perform his Secret Agent Magic Show—hilarious fun for kids and adults. Circus Freaks, a Dallas-based band of “versatile variety vaudevillians,” will amuse audiences with their mix of improvisational theater, musical mayhem, and big top circus entertainment.

Other acts outside the Plaza Theater in front of the main stage include A Body in Motion, a full service studio in dance, cheer, and fitness for all ages, and the North Dallas-area martial arts company Sidekicks that provides not only physical training, but also life skills for students ages 3 and up.

Come on out for a day of fun for the whole family and see what Downtown Carrollton has to offer. When the kids are done for the day, head back out for concert headliners Gin Blossoms and Blues Traveler.

Festival sponsors to date include Xerox, The Dallas Observer, The Union at Carrollton Square, Now 102.9, Venetian Cinemas, Carrollton Plaza Arts Center, Atmos Energy, Recyclebank, DFW Child, The North Texas Outdoor Pursuit Center, Van Chevrolet, and 1000 East Beltline Road Office Suites.

Applications are now being accepted for food and craft vendors to participate in Carrollton's 5th Annual Festival at the Switchyard. Vendors applying should offer variety and quality. Booths are available in two sizes: 10x10 or 10x20, and each will include a table, two chairs, tent, and signage.
