Major Carrollton engineering and technology companies CyrusOne, Inc. and Interphase Corporation have been named as finalists to the Metroplex Technology Business Council’s (MTBC) list of Tech Titans for 2014.

The Tech Titan list recognizes the most elite in North Texas technology–individuals currently transforming the high-tech industry and giving companies a competitive edge. The Tech Titan awards showcase innovators, adopters, and executors impacting the technology industry for the greater good.

“As a community, we are quite proud to have these talented partners serving not only our citizens, but our region, our state, and the technology industry overall,” said Thomas Latchem, City of Carrollton Economic Development Director. “This area is fortunate that companies and employers of such a high caliber call Carrollton home.”

Kevin Timmons, Chief Technology Officer at CyrusOne, Inc., earned a finalist spot in the Corporate CTO category. The award recognizes the Corporate Technology Officer of a DFW Metroplex-based company for exceptional technical leadership that fostered development of new technology resulting in significant value for the company. CyrusOne goes up against Zimbra, Accudata Technologies, and Ericsson North America for the award.

CyrusOne, which currently provides the City of Carrollton with a 670,000-square-foot data center, was recently named the colocation solutions provider for the newly formed North Texas Emergency Communication Center (NTECC). The CyrusOne facility will house the NTECC dispatch center that will serve Carrollton, Coppell, Farmers Branch, and Addison with streamlined, consolidated emergency resources.

The penveu® Team at Interphase Corporation has been selected as a group finalist in the Technology Inventors category for its work on an interactive display system that puts the functionality of an interactive whiteboard in the palm of your hand via a digital pen and mouse. Category competitors include Ampcare, LLC, Triune Systems, and i2i inc. Interphase headquarters and manufacturing plant is located in Carrollton and was recently named to the Dallas Morning News’ Top 100 Places to Work in DFW.

The MTBC is the largest technology trade association in Texas and will host the 14th annual Tech Titans gala on August 22 at the InterContinental Dallas Hotel, sponsored by Ericsson.
