Carrollton City Council Approves New Public Information Act Policy
Posted Date: 8/11/2014
The Carrollton City Council is committed to transparency and open government. On August 5, 2014, Council approved a new Public Information Act Policy to effectively and swiftly handle Public Information Act requests.

"Transparency should be a guiding principle in all facets of local government, and this policy ensures that citizens have convenient access to information at City Hall," said Carrollton Mayor Matthew Marchant.

The policy includes a summary statement, which states that “The City of Carrollton will promptly fulfill all Public Information Act requests in compliance with the law, unless the release of such information is against the law or City policy.” The policy contains a “Superpublic” category that will provide for rapid production of certain requested information.

“The ‘Superpublic’ classification represents the increase in responsibility we’ve set upon ourselves for handling Public Information Act requests in a timely manner,” explains City Attorney Meredith Ladd.
