Sealion, Maxx Band, and Thunder Road Fill Out Free Annual Festival at the Switchyard Lineup
Posted Date: 8/7/2014 4:00 PM
Third coast punk rockers Sealion, cover artists Maxx Band, and Springsteen tribute band Thunder Road stack the roster for Carrollton’s 5th Annual Festival at the Switchyard this fall.

All three bands are local and bring an even tighter sense of community to the November 1 event held in Downtown Carrollton.

Sealion’s contributions to the local live music scene include the intro sounds of Green Day infused with the rhythm and energy of the Foo Fighters. Bass tricks, not unlike those of Weezer or Jet, really pull the listener in on tracks like “Naked” from their album Heavy Fizz.

Thunder Road, a Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tribute group, includes members all from the North Texas region, the majority from Carrollton, who came together to pay homage to the incredible storytelling delivered via the rock and roll music that has made Springsteen a worldwide live concert legend.

Maxx Band Dallas features high-energy dance, R&B, and rock that engages the audience.

To kick off the main stage entertainment, Kimberly Rivera, the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary Club talent show winner, will lend her voice to the Carrollton crowd. Rivera won the first-ever Carrollton’s Got Talent competition in May with her rendition of James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s World.”

Texas-based bands The Orbans and Quiet Company will take the stage after Thunder Road wraps their set. Then Jay Farrar (of Son Volt) accompanied by Gary Hunt warm up the crowd for headliners Gin Blossoms and Blues Traveler.

Festival sponsors to date include Xerox, The Dallas Observer, The Union at Carrollton Square, Now 102.9, Venetian Cinemas, Carrollton Plaza Arts Center, Atmos Energy, Recyclebank, DFW Child, The North Texas Outdoor Pursuit Center, Van Chevrolet, and 1000 East Beltline Road Office Suites.

Applications are now being accepted for food and craft vendors to participate in Carrollton's 5th Annual Festival at the Switchyard. Vendors applying should offer variety and quality. Booths are available in two sizes: 10x10 or 10x20, and each will include a table, two chairs, tent, and signage. For details on pricing and other specialty needs, review and return the vendor application located at
