Carrollton Police Department Begins Recruitment Efforts

The City of Carrollton Police Department is seeking officers to join local law enforcement. Registration for the Police Civil Service Exam is now open, and interested prospects who meet the requirements are encouraged to apply.

The exam will be administered at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 9 at R.E. Good Elementary School (1012 Study Lane). It will consist of both written and physical ability tests.

“The Carrollton Police Department is an exceptional agency that employs professional and dedicated officers,” Police Chief Rex Redden said. “We are looking for candidates who think they measure up to this tradition of excellence.”

The department has shown its effectiveness in recent crime statistics that show Carrollton’s continuing decrease in both violent and nonviolent crimes. From 2012 to 2013 alone, Carrollton’s crime rates dropped 18 percent. According to Redden, these decreases are due to processes that identify areas in need of attention, emphasize community engagement with officers, and hold them accountable for their time.

Anyone interested in applying should fill out and submit the online registration at cityofcarrollton.com/police. Online registration must be completed by 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 4 in order to be eligible to take the exam.

Some basic requirements of becoming a Carrollton Police Officer include U.S. citizen status, 18–44 years of age at the time of the Civil Service Exam, and no convictions of felonies or major misdemeanors.
