Carrollton Crime Rates Drop
Posted Date: 7/10/2014 10:30 AM
CQ Press, a division of SAGE Publications, recently released its Safest Cities Report and Carrollton has again revealed a decrease in crime rates for 2013.

The annual report compares and ranks American cities with a population of 75,000 or more. Another report, compiled in March by the Dallas Morning News also affirmed Carrollton’s declining crime.

The study develops a national average, then designates where each city ranks in comparison to it. Carrollton’s crime rate against the national average has trended down over the last five years.

“Carrollton is one of the safest cities in the country and we are constantly striving to protect and serve our residents through our active and professional police department,” said Mayor Matthew Marchant.

Police Chief Rex Redden said, to gain an even better perspective, he distinguishes how Carrollton ranks alongside its north Texas counterparts to judge whether the City is making progress.

Both Richardson and McKinney fell at least 10 places, while Carrollton moved up 19 spots in the overall rankings. It sits at an 83 out of 437 cities, 44.62 points below the national average.

“I’m certainly proud of the accomplishments of the department and these results show the hard work everyone is doing,” said. “We will always have room for improvement and we will never lose focus on our mission,” Redden said. “The citizens can rest assured that we are making every concerted effort to prevent as much crime as possible. We appreciate the partnership we share with our citizens, and the efforts they are putting forth to help prevent crime.”

SAGE Publications prints and distributes books, directories, periodicals, and electronic products on American government and politics.
