Carrollton’s Water Conservation Efforts Flood into High Gear

The City of Carrollton has taken several steps in educating citizens about best practices with water use and effective water conservation efforts. Below is a list of the various water programs, partners, events, and happenings going on throughout Carrollton in the coming weeks.

Council Ordinance-Drought Contingency Plan
City Council has issued a notice of opportunity for public input on the Carrollton water conservation and drought contingency plan. Citizens will be able to share their input at the upcoming City Council meeting.

Carrollton’s Superior Water Rating
The City of Carrollton drinking water system maintains a “Superior” rating, the highest assessment mark for water quality, issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. This rating is maintained by continually exceeding state requirements for water quality and operational standards.

Drinking Water Week
The City of Carrollton will celebrate its Superior water rating by participating in the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) Drinking Water Week, May 4-10. This year’s theme, “Getting to Know Your H20,” educates the community about the critical role water plays in our everyday lives, with special attention focused on all the ways consumers can get to know their water.

Free Irrigation Inspections
Through the City’s Save Water by the Yard program, free irrigation inspections are available now. Eligible Carrollton Water Utilities residential customers, with in-ground irrigation systems, can apply to receive the inspections through September 30 or until the funds are exhausted.
