The City of Carrollton Public Water System Maintains “Superior” Rating
Posted Date: 4/3/2014 7:00 AM
The City of Carrollton drinking water system maintains a “Superior” rating, the highest assessment mark for water quality issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. This rating is maintained by continually exceeding the state requirements for water quality and operational standards.

Public water supply systems which achieve and maintain Superior recognition must exceed the minimum acceptable standards of the commission. These standards include receiving zero system microbiological violations in 24 months time, maintaining a pleasing public appearance in water facilities, compliance with system operation and capacities with all applicable state statues and minimum acceptable operating procedures, and compliance with all primary water quality parameters and chemical water quality with all secondary constituent levels in drinking water standards.

The City of Carrollton will celebrate this rating by participating in the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) Drinking Water Week, May 4-10. This year’s theme, “Getting to Know Your H20”, educates the community about the critical role water plays in our everyday lives, with special attention to the ways all consumers can get to know their water.

“Drinking Water Week is a great opportunity to take time to realize how integral safe drinking water is to our everyday lives,” said AWWA Executive Director David LaFrance. “Now is the time to understand the roles we play in caring for our precious water supplies and systems to guarantee we have safe drinking water for generations to come.”

For more than 35 years, AWWA and its members have celebrated Drinking Water Week – a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to join together and recognize the vital role water plays.

To commemorate the occasion, the City of Carrollton will provide important drinking water information at Children’s activity sheets about the water cycle will be available at Carrollton libraries and recreation centers, as well as posters with facts about drinking water that will be displayed throughout City Facilities.
