Carrollton P.D. Ends 2013 on a High Note

Carrollton enjoyed a successful year in crime reduction thanks to the hard work of Carrollton Police Officers, civilian employees and volunteers, and a partnership with the community. badge
Below are a few statistics regarding major crimes:

•Part 1 Crimes saw a significant decrease of 17.7%, or 632 fewer major crimes. Since 2009, major offenses have decreased 31.5% or 1,353 fewer offenses.
•There has been a 3% decrease, or 229 fewer Burglar Alarms. Since 2009 there has been 1186 fewer Burglar Alarms, a 14% decrease.
•Burglary of Vehicles has dropped 25.3%, or 232 fewer. Since 2009 it has dropped 45.5%, or 571 fewer crimes.
•Criminal Mischief saw a 35.4% drop, or 306 fewer crimes. This category is down 27.2%, or 209 fewer than in 2009.
•Clearance Rates increased overall for Part 1 Crimes by 22.43%. This is up 4.63% from last year. Property Crimes saw a 20.42% clearance and Persons Crimes a 58.89%.
•Calls for Service had less than a one percent increase (.9%), for a total of 44,308 calls.

The Police Department also drastically expanded their social media outreach last year through sites including Facebook, Twitter and Nextdoor, enabling the City to communicate with residents on a whole new level. Followers can enjoy tweet-alongs, safety tips, traffic information, live police activity, and the latest crime alerts to help keep citizens aware and take preventative measures to stay safe.
