The Main Street closure underneath I-35E is ongoing as crews perform utility work. This portion of Main Street is expected to reopen in mid-September.
In order to repair the bridge joints at the southbound mainlane bridge over Valley View Lane, northbound mainlane traffic at Valley View Lane has shifted to the outside and southbound mainlane traffic has shifted to the center of the bridge. Traffic will remain in this configuration for rehabilitation activities until the end of September. At that time, north- and southbound traffic will shift into final alignments.
Motorists will continue to experience miscellaneous north- and southbound frontage road closures daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Valwood Parkway and Crosby Road. As ramp construction and widening work continues on the north- and southbound mainlanes, the southbound Valwood Parkway exit ramp will be closed through October.
As crews work to set beams at the Belt Line Road overpass, motorists will continue to experience nightly full closures of the southbound frontage road between Belt Line and Crosby Roads. The southbound I-35E entrance ramp at Belt Line Road remains closed through 2017.
As crews continue to work on the new southbound mainlane bridge over Belt Line Road, miscellaneous lane closures and flagging operations will take place on College Street. Additionally, various lanes of east- and westbound Belt Line Road will be under nightly lane closures.
The flagging operation for truck access at Century Drive continues.
Southbound frontage road traffic will shift to the west between College Street and Belt Line Road this month.
Work on the new Dickerson Parkway bridge is underway. Crews continue to place drill shafts and column work will begin soon. Nightly mainlane closures continue.
The new southbound exit ramp to Frankford Road is expected to open later this month. The new ramp is a few hundred feet north of the current ramp.
Utility work north of Frankford Road continues. Construction of the new frontage road alignment also continues in this area. Traffic is expected to be placed on the new pavement this fall.
The southbound Valwood Parkway exit ramp closed in late August and is expected to reopen in October. In the meantime, to access Valwood Parkway, motorists will continue south to the Valley View Lane exit and use the U-turn to access the northbound frontage road.
Various lanes of north- and southbound I-35E between President George Bush Turnpike and FM 1171/Main Street will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, August 31 through Saturday, December 5. At least one lane in each direction will remain open to traffic.
As work progresses on the new southbound mainlane bridge over Belt Line Road in Carrollton, the following closures will be in place nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 through Saturday, Oct. 31:
Detour: Traffic will travel west on Belt Line Road and turn left onto Hutton Drive. Drivers will continue south and turn left onto Crosby Road back to the southbound I-35E frontage road. Law enforcement will be on site to assist with traffic control during the closure.
As crews continue to work on the new southbound mainlane bridge, the southbound frontage road between College Street and Belt Line Road will shift to the west.
Crews continue to widen the existing bridges at Harry Hines Boulevard by installing drill shafts, columns and bridge decking. Ongoing miscellaneous lane closures will take place during the day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through October.
35Express Community Meeting
35Express will host a Community Meeting for residents of Carrollton and Farmers Branch on Monday, October 19 at 6:30 p.m. held at Farmers Branch City Hall (13000 Williams Dodson Parkway). Residents are encouraged to attend to ask questions and receive more information about the project and upcoming traffic patterns.
As work continues on the reconstruction of the Belt Line Road and Interstate 35E interchange, a new traffic pattern is now in place. East and westbound Belt Line Road between Denton Drive and Hutton Road will be shifted south and reduced to two traffic lanes in each direction. Belt Line Road will have two lanes in each direction through mid-2017. Due to this traffic pattern change, eastbound motorists wishing to access the RaceTrac gas station will use Broadway Street.
The 35Express project will reconstruct the intersection at Belt Line Road and I-35E. Once complete, Belt Line Road will be elevated to the current height of I-35E and I-35E will be raised approximately 25 feet higher than its current elevation. Construction in this area is expected to last through mid-2017.
This work is related to the 35Express project, an expansion of I-35E between U.S. Highway 380 in Denton County and I-635 in Dallas County. All closures are subject to weather conditions and may be postponed, if necessary.
