Posted Date: 12/31/2013 1:00 PM

East - and westbound Belt Line Road will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Denton Drive and Hutton Drive through October.

The Southbound I-35E exit ramp to Valley View Lane in Carrollton will be temporarily closed beginning Monday, July 7 at 9 p.m. Traffic will be directed to exit at Valwood Parkway and take the frontage road to Valley View Lane. This temporary closure is expected to last until early August.

Late The U-Turn lanes on the north- and southbound I-35E frontage roads at Valley View Lane will be closed through December 2014. During the closure, crews will construct the center bridge support structure for the expansion of the Valley View Lane bridge.

As work to widen the I-35E bridges continues in Carrollton, Belt Line Road, Crosby Road, Valley View Lane, Main and West College Streets will be closed at the I-35E frontage road. These closures will be in place nightly from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., Monday, May 5 through Sunday, August 31. Please note these streets will not be closed simultaneously.

Detours are as follows:

  • Westbound Crosby Road traffic will be detoured north to Main Street and back around to the southbound I-35E frontage road. Eastbound Crosby Road traffic will be detoured south to Valwood Parkway and back around to the northbound I-35E frontage road.

  • Westbound Main Street traffic will be detoured north to Belt Line Road and back around to the southbound I-35E frontage road. Eastbound Main Street traffic will be detoured south to Crosby Road and back around to the northbound I-35E frontage road.
  • Westbound West College Street traffic will be detoured north to Whitlock Lane/Sandy Lake Road and back around to the southbound I-35E frontage road. Eastbound West College Street traffic will be detoured south to Belt Line Road and back around to the northbound I-35E frontage road.

East- and Westbound Whitlock Lane/Sandy Lake Road in Carrollton Scheduled to Close at the Interstate 35E Frontage Road

Detours are as follows:

  • Westbound Whitlock Lane traffic will be detoured onto the north frontage road to Frankford Road and back around to the southbound frontage road.
  • Eastbound Sandy Lake Road traffic will be detoured onto the south frontage road to College Street and back around to the northbound frontage road.

The U-turn lane at Valwood Parkway from the northbound I-35E frontage road to the southbound I-35E frontage road will be closed through November 2014. Motorists will need to turn left from the signalized intersection to access the southbound I-35E frontage road.

The I-35E north and southbound high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes running from Whitlock Lane in Carrollton, south to I-635 in Dallas will close permanently, as construction progresses on the I-35E expansion project, or 35Express.

Once finished, 35Express will feature a pair of reversible managed toll lanes that will take the place of HOV lanes. The managed lanes will be reversed each day to handle southbound traffic in the morning, and northbound traffic in the evening. The goal of the managed lanes will be to ease congestion and keep traffic flowing at an average rate of 50 mph along the corridor.

On average, nearly 7,000 vehicles per day use this five-mile stretch of HOV lanes. For more information on lane closures or the 35Express Project, visit www.35Express.org, or call 214-483-7777.
