Lane Reduction and Traffic Shift on Belt Line Road in Carrollton
Posted Date: 6/16/2015 7:00 AM

As work continues on the reconstruction of the Belt Line Road and Interstate 35E interchange, a new traffic pattern will be in place beginning 6 a.m. Saturday, June 20. East and westbound Belt Line Road between Denton Drive and Hutton Road will be shifted south and reduced to two traffic lanes in each direction. Belt Line Road will have two lanes in each direction through mid-2017.

Prior to this change, the following closures will be in place:

  • Thursday, June 18 (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.): The left lane of eastbound Belt Line Road from Hutton Drive to the southbound I-35E frontage road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 18.
  • Friday, June 19 through Saturday, June 27 (Nightly): Various lanes of east- and westbound Belt Line Road between Hutton Drive and Denton Drive/ Main Street will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, June 19 through Saturday, June 27. During this closure, a flagging operation will also be in effect between Broadway Street and Denton Drive/ Main Street.

Due to this traffic pattern change, eastbound motorists wishing to access the RaceTrac gas station will use Broadway Street.

The 35express project will reconstruct the intersection at Belt Line Road and I-35E. Once complete, Belt Line Road will be elevated to the current height of I-35E and I-35E will be raised approximately 25 feet higher than its current elevation. Construction in this area is expected to last through mid-2017.

This work is related to the 35Express project, an expansion of I-35E between U.S. Highway 380 in Denton County and I-635 in Dallas County. All closures are subject to weather conditions and may be postponed, if necessary.
