35Express Nightly Lane Closures through Carrollton
Posted Date: 12/31/2013 1:00 PM

The left lane of north- and southbound I-35E near Valley View Lane will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., Tuesday, April 15 through Saturday, April 26.

East and West-bound west College Street at the I-35E frontage road from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., Thursday, March 20 through Sunday, Aug. 31. Crews will perform prep work underneath the Belt Line Road bridge.

Crews will close east- and westbound Whitlock Lane/Sandy Lake Road under I-35E at the frontage road nightly from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., Monday, March 10 through Saturday, May 17. Detours are as follows:

Westbound Whitlock Lane traffic will be detoured onto the northbound frontage road to Frankford Road and back around to the southbound frontage road.

Eastbound Sandy Lake Road traffic will be detoured onto the southbound frontage road to College Street and back around to the northbound frontage road. View detour map here.

Traffic at Valwood Parkway will be shifted towards the middle of the roadway, while traffic at Crosby Road, Belt Line Road and Whitlock Lane will be shifted towards the outer limits of the interstate. This traffic pattern will be in place for the next nine months.

The U-turn lane at Valwood Parkway from the northbound I-35E frontage road to the southbound I-35E frontage road will be closed through June 2014. Motorists will need to turn left from the signalized intersection to access the southbound I-35E frontage road.

The I-35E north and southbound high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes running from Whitlock Lane in Carrollton, south to I-635 in Dallas will close permanently, as construction progresses on the I-35E expansion project, or 35Express.

Once finished, 35Express will feature a pair of reversible managed toll lanes that will take the place of HOV lanes. The managed lanes will be reversed each day to handle southbound traffic in the morning, and northbound traffic in the evening. The goal of the managed lanes will be to ease congestion and keep traffic flowing at an average rate of 50 mph along the corridor.

On average, nearly 7,000 vehicles per day use this five-mile stretch of HOV lanes. For more information on lane closures or the 35Express Project, visit, or call 214-483-7777.
