Carrollton Boxing Instructor Makes Pro Debut

boxingMike Tufariello, Jr., a long time Carrollton, Texas resident and Crosby Recreation Center instructor, will make his Professional Boxing debut on Friday, June 28.

Tufariello, in conjunction with The City of Carrollton, developed the Tough Time Boxing/Cardio class at the Carrollton Crosby Recreation Center back in 2002. The program is still going strong today. The class has produced many champions and has turned many lives around, but most people attend class simply to get in shape. Ages range from 16 to mid 50s, both men and woman alike.

At 38 years old, Tufariello is considered an old man in the boxing world, making this debut quite unique. His father and grandfather were both boxers, and Mike Jr. himself has a record that consists of 37 wins and 5 losses in the amateur world. He was a Dallas Golden Glove Champion in 1997 and runner up in the National Toughman Competition in 2008.

Come see Carrollton’s own Mike Tufariello fight at the Bud Light Pro Fight Series at College Park Center on the University of Texas at Arlington campus (601 Spaniolo Drive, Arlington, TX 76019). Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; opening bell rings at 7:30 p.m.. For ticket information, contact the UTA box office at 817-272-9595. If you want to get in shape or learn to fight like a pro, join the Tough Time Boxing/cardio class at the Crosby Recreation Center. For more information, visit cityofcarrollton.com/Crosby.
