Irrigation Rate Increase Effective November 1
The City of Carrollton wants to ensure the long term adequacy of our water supply by actively promoting water conservation. A review of water use by all customers found that irrigation water users were using amounts of water far in excess of those recommended by experts in the field. To encourage voluntary conservation, the City’s irrigation rate structure will increase effective November 1. The previous and new rate structures are below.
Minimum, includes the first 2 thousand gallons
3 to 10 thousand gallons, per thousand
11 to 25 thousand gallons, per thousand
26 to 50 thousand gallons, per thousand
51 to 100 thousand gallons ,per thousand
101 to 200 thousand gallons, per thousand
Over 200 thousand gallons, per thousand
This rate change only impacts water usage on your irrigation meter. It does not impact usage on the domestic meter that services your home. It should be noted that although this new structure represents a significant rate increase at extremely high volumes, it is still below average for area cities and keeps charges virtually unchanged for monthly use of 50,000 gallons and under. We hope these rates provide an incentive for you to reduce your water use so that you will pay less after the rate increase than you do currently.
