Carrollton’s Animal Services Team Earns National Recognition for Community Partnership to Deal with Invasive Bird Nesting

Carrollton, TX – The City of Carrollton is pleased to have received a 2012 national Silver Circle (2nd Place) Award for its “Egret Invasion Project” in the Community Issue category of the annual SAVVY awards program sponsored by 3CMA (City-County Communications & Marketing Association) to celebrate the best in local government and achievements in communications, public sector marketing and citizen-government relations.

This award highlights the outstanding partnership formed between Carrollton’s Animal Services team and citizens who were faced with the unique challenge of managing migratory bird nesting in their residential neighborhoods.

Judges said Carrollton had “An innovative solution to a unique problem that many communities can learn from. Impressive amount of community involvement, good variety of messages and kudos to the strategic implementation.”

3CMA was organized in 1988 and has a membership of more than 700 cities, counties and municipal entities. During its 24 year history, 3CMA’s SAVVY program has had more than 10,000 competitive entries which in many cases have become the benchmark for local government communication efforts.
