The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
The Carrollton Police Department will coordinate with the Drug Enforcement Administration in a collaborative effort focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets. A national take-back day provides a unified opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. This one-day effort will bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. The program provides an opportunity for law enforcement to collaborate and establish a safe collection site for all Americans, regardless of where they reside. Controlled, non-controlled, and over the counter substances may be deposited directly into the disposal box in their original container. Officers will accept items in the rear drive of the Police Station. You can bring the drugs in their original containers and just drive by and drop them in a disposal box and then they are sealed and delivered to DEA the same day for destruction.
This program is anonymous and free to the public. For questions regarding this event contact Officer J. Moore at 972-466-3521 or by email at email@example.com. Intra-venous solutions, injectibles and syringes will not be accepted at the Carrollton Police Department drop off location due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.
