Background and Education
Councilmember Bob Garza is a native Texan and has lived in Carrollton since 1989. He served four years in the United States Air Forces and is a Vietnam veteran. Councilmember Garza received his BBA degree in 1974 from the University of North Texas in Management Science. He is a 1998 graduate of Leadership Dallas and a 2013 graduate of Leadership Metrocrest, Class XXIV.
Councillmember Garza was elected to the City Council Place 4 in June 2011 and presently serves as the Chair of the Judicial Subcommittee and on the Trasit Oriented Development Subcommitte. He is Liaison to Bea’s Kids, the Metrocrest Hospital Authority, and Metrocrest Services. Prior to getting elected to City Council, Councilmember Garza served on the Charter Review Committee and the TIRZ Committee. In 2003, he was the recipient of the United Way Corporate Volunteer of the Year.
Personal and Professional
Councilmember Garza retired from AT&T in 2011 after 36 years where he held numerous positions and served as Governmental Relations Director in External Affairs his last 10 years. He has been married for 49 years to his wife Emily and has a daughter and son and four grandchildren.
