School’s out for the summer, and that means hundreds of local children will be looking for places they can meet their friends, have fun and eat healthy meals.
The City of Carrollton Parks Department has partnered with The Gloria Hicks Movement, Inc., a local non-profit who will be coordinating food service. This non-profit has been certified by the Texas Department of Agriculture to serve lunches for the Summer Food Program.
The Texas Department of Agriculture Summer Nutrition Program is offered statewide by local sponsors who operate sites where children up to 18-years-old can get meals at no charge. The service is open to all children, regardless of income. People who are over age 18 and enrolled in school programs for people with disabilities may also receive meals at no charge.
The most up-to-date information on Summer Food meal sites and hours of operation is available statewide by calling 2-1-1. For more details on the Summer Food Program, visit summerfood.org. For more information about Carrollton’s program, call 972-466-3080.
