2014 Environmental Distinction Award Ruskin

Ruskin Rooftop Systems receives Carrollton's 2013-2014 Environmental Distinction Award

Carrollton City Council presented the Environmental Distinction Award to Ruskin Rooftop Systems for the second year in a row for their continued commitment to environmental sustainability and leadership on December 9.

Ruskin Rooftop Systems manufactures commercial HVAC accessories and energy recovery ventilators. Since last year, Ruskin has reduced its solid and hazardous waste by 89% by expanding its recycling programs, and has reduced its water consumption by 53%, in part by installing one-gallon flush toilets.

Ruskin does not discharge process waste water and plans to see energy decreases after installing motion-sensors for lighting this year. The company has adopted a creek-monitoring program, partnered with Metrocrest Services to assist local children, as well as helped with school supply drives, food pantry donations, and local blood drives. Ruskin has certifications for both ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management Systems; and, ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management Systems.
