CARROLLTON PRESENTS 2013 ENVIRONMENTAL DISTINCTION AWARDS
Carrollton, Texas – The City of Carrollton Environmental Services Department recognizes industries that consistently comply with industrial pretreatment regulations for a full year, and awards the Environmental Distinction Award to industries that have stepped up their pollution prevention operations and environmental leadership. On December 3, 2013, City Council presented the Environmental Distinction Award to Ruskin Rooftop Systems. During this 11th annual awards presentation, eleven other companies were also recognized for their consistent compliance with environmental requirements.
Ruskin Rooftop Systems receives Carrollton's 2012-2013 Environmental Distinction Award
RUSKIN ROOFTOP SYSTEMS manufactures commercial HVAC accessories and Energy Recovery Ventilators. It is a zero water discharge facility, has reduced its solid and hazardous waste by 84%; its electric consumption by 60%; water consumption by 24%; and, uses recycled pallets, recycles paper, wood, and metal. They have adopted a creek-monitoring program, partnered with Metrocrest to assist local children, assisted with school supply drives, food pantry donations, and local blood drives. Ruskin has certifications for both ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management Systems; and, ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management System.
The recipient of the Environmental Distinction Award was selected by a committee comprised of Environmental Services staff and chaired by Council member Lisa Sutter. As the only awards program in the Metroplex where council is involved and where the award recipients are recognized in a public meeting, the council members showed their commitment to actively encourage industry partners towards environmental quality and sustainability.
The following companies have been consistently compliant in meeting the requirements of the Industrial Pretreatment Program for the 2012-2013 Pretreatment year: BeautiControl, Century Products, Electroplate Circuitry, Gerdau Ameristeel, Halliburton Energy Services, Image Industries, International Paper, MI Windows and Doors, Quality Powder Coating, Quik Trip, and Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products.
