Branch of Service: U.S. Marine Corps - April 1944 – March 1946; U.S. Marine Reserves

Class: Corporal

Military Occupation: Clerk Typist, 1st Service Company Headquarter

Service History, Stateside or Abroad: 1944 – Basic training at Camp Le June, North Carolina for 6 weeks. It was fun. We did our drills and obstacle courses. We did not touch any weapons, but observed the demonstration of them. I went to work in the top sergeant's office as Camp Le June. In addition to typing, I did dictations. Also, I was required to pull KP duties, walk guard duty, 24 hour watch duty (any emergency you had to call the Red Cross). I was discharged in 1946. After I was discharged, women Marines started training and education as Hunter College. I loved being in the military. If I had to do it over again, I will go back.

Honors & Commendations: Good Conduct Medal

Present Location: Carrollton, Texas. I am now a resident of the Corinthian, Carrollton (Assisted Living). My son and daughter live in Carrollton.
