Name: Joseph (Joe) Robert Parker Place of Birth: Deadwood, South Dakota Personal History: Loyola High School; & Loyola University (California) Married to Spouse, Jane (Jr. Research Analyst-Far East Div. - Office of Strategic Service) 5 children(2 boys & 3 girls), 3 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren Place of Recruitment: Los Angeles, California Branch of Service: U.S. Marine Corp - 1941 - 1970 (WWII) Inactive Reserved 1970 Retired Reserved Major- 1990 Class: Captain Military Occupation: Aviation Ordinance Mechanical Officer; Bomb Disposal Officer Service History, Stateside or Abroad: 1941 – Basic training at Officer Candidate School, Marine Base, in Los Angeles, California. Thereafter, I was assigned to MAG 14 Unit and transferred to Solomon Islands (Guada Canal), Green Island and Japan in 1943. My unit Serviced the F4V – Gull Winged fighter, F77 for the Marines in the Pacific ), B-25 Mitchell Bomber, F6F-5 Helicat, F4U-5N Corsair and any other planes that were used in fighting the Japanese. In 1945 I return to the United States, at the Marines Base in Los Angeles and was in charged of Ordinance bases there until the war ended. I went into inactive reserved (California) and then retired reserve (California). Thereafter I moved to Houston, Texas 1990 and later to Carrollton, Texas, where my daughter lives. Commendations & Honors: Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Pacific Medal, Marine Corps Reserve Medal for Service, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Medals, U.S. Marine Corps (Ex-Bayonet, SS-pistor, Auto-Rifle MM-Small Bore) Present Location: Carrollton, Texas. I am now a resident of the Atria, Carrollton (Assisted Living).
